I live on a small lot with just a little patch of dirt out front to take care of. When I first moved in I thought the plants the way they were are just fine by me. As time passed I decided I wanted something more and today I finished a 6 week project of planning and researching etc.... Below is the progression from how it looked when I bought it to now.
Much happier. Interspersed amongst the plantings are various herbs I like to cook with so I am looking forward to next year when everything is settled in and rooted and having fresh herbs and a beautiful flowering front garden.
In photo 003 you can see right in front is a little open space of dirt. I am hoping my relatives will let me take a japanese style concrete pogoda that is in my recently deceased Grandmothers garden and place it in front of my house. That is what I am holding the spot for. Otherwise I will have to find something else to place there.
So last night I was reading this magazine and it had all these "best things to live for and have" etc.. etc.. type articles. Lots of neet stuff. But this house? WHOA!! My dream house. I have been looking at a lot in St Johns that is overlooking the river and the bridge. The guy who owns it is going to build a modern house on it. I have been trying to sort out if it is realistic for me to move there.
This is what I want him to build there: Modern Home
On another note I biked into work today. Things went pretty well EXCEPT, I hit almost every light, the bridge was up when I got to it AND I forgot my bike lock. Poor Natalie I had to wake her up to get her to bring it to me.
Not a lot else to report at this time.

Oh man I came across this website and my heart skipped a beat. So many great homes on here. Maybe someday I will trade up for one of these!!
This is my neighborhood. Where I bought my first home last year. To be honest I was a bit hesitant when I first started looking at homes here and it certainly does have it's quirks. But the pace of change here is amazing. I love being in Portland but it is completely like a small town within the city. The bridge is by far the most beautiful in Portland. The walkable area, squeezed between the Wilamette and Columbia rivers, Forest Park, Pier Park, Cathedral Park, Boat Launches, Smith Bybee lakes, Kayaking and Canoeing... you name it is all here.
