Well well well... Summer is winding down, Wedding season has been in full swing for a few weeks now and with that season came... ugggghhhh The deck I have been putting off all Summer. Stripping, Finishing, Sealing. Good times.
But forget that. The wedding! More photo's over on my photo's link to Flickr but here are a couple to wet your appetite.
PS..
Yes I have seen some good movies in the last few weeks, but just been too busy and lazy to get some posts up here! Always more to see.
Later
Been a hectic few weeks.
Work has been hell on wheels. I have not worked that hard in a very long time. Had some system outages, that we just could not get satisfactorily repaired. We were under a heavy and constant SPAM barrage bordeing on a denial of service attack against our systems. A lot of hard work to get this undercontrol.
But the email gateway replacement project is nearly complete. All the technical hurdles are completed all that is left is to get the announcements and transition timelines out along with documentation. I gotta ease people into this transition.
I am pretty proud of the new Office Communications Server setup. I nearly have the first phase of it completed. Next comes the IM firewall, IM/Email firewall synchronization and integration. Then comes the VOIP integration to our new Cisco VOIP system. That is the the real holy grail here. Almost there.
On a personal front I was out at my Grandmother Smiths farm yesterday helping my father, aunt and uncle to burn a bunch of stuff we had dug out of various barns and the house and what not. Going to try and see what I can do to help my father setup a Trust and get some of his financial affairs in order to prepare for his retirement.
Lastly... today is going to be a beautiful 60 degree day. I am going to get the bike out, try out my the cold weather riding gear I got for Christmas and hit the road a bit today. Looking forward to that!
Ahhhh BBQ sooooo good. Soooo much better when you are not hosting and do not have to do all the prep and cleanup. Thanks to my Aunt and Uncle (Eric and Joan) we had a little BBQ get together with some family members as a little rememberance for my Grandparents (on my fathers side). Grandfather passed away about 6 years ago or so, and Grandmother just about two months ago.
I think a good time was had by all. Natalie and I had to leave earlier than I would have liked due to she had to work. I came home and just fell into a food coma/nap. :)
Photo's have been updated into Flickr, the link is on the right under Photo's.
Well today I am headed over to my Uncle's house for a casuel wake for my grandmother and grandfather on my fathers side. I am looking forward to it and I hope some family I have not seen in awhile will show up.
I am really really enjoying riding my bike to work. I need to do it more often before the weather turns on me. If I wanted to ride through the winter I think I would need a different bike than the one I have now. One with fenders, panniers, a light, rain gear, etc.. etc... that all costs $$ which I do not have right now.
I was casually approached yesterday about the idea of a job at Microsoft. It seems like it is the perfect job for me, just enough balance of people vs. technology, without having to do support or implementations. Plus it would probably be a monster pay raise, work from home part time and on the road maybe 25% of the time. If it comes to fruition it likely would not be until next Summer. Between now and then I need to get deep into my projects at CorVel and keep learning.
I like it at CorVel but the benefits just suck, my benefits cost me $220 per month, I have no 401K match and no bonuses. I just cannot sustain that for a long term commitment. A couple years that is probably it.
Gotta get ready to go. Hopefully be back in time to take a good ride today.
